A New Posting on the Website For My Story

I have posted a new copy of Chapter one, The Wizard’s Spells…, on the website dedicated to my story, Gods Among Men.

There is also a new blog post on the book’s website entitled (appropriately) Another New Version Of Chapter One

The  blog post talks about the reasons for the latest edit of chapter one and the vital contribution from Alex, a founding member of the Magic City Writers’ Group.  (AKA, the person I keep torturing by talking about the meals we server at our much-too-infrequent meetings.)

I will not repeat myself here, except to express my deep gratitude for the invaluable help she is giving me with editing my story.  Thank you Alex, your efforts are much appreciated.

Another New Version Of Chapter One

I have been away from writing for some time now.  The reasons aren’t important, suffice it to say I have been busy.  In recent weeks I have been able to return to the task of editing and writing and have made considerable progress.

Recently I entered into an editing arrangement with a friend from the Magic City Writers’ GroupHer name is Alex, I have know for several years now, and she wants to edit my work and give me feedback.  There is nothing more valuable to a writer, so I have taken her up on her kind offer.  We agreed that I would send her my chapters in one at a time, in the correct order, so she would be evaluating each one in its correct context.  We started with chapter one, which she returned to me a little over a week ago with numerous comments.  Her criticisms were substantial, constructive, and, most importantly, often correct.

I have incorporated her suggestions, and now repost chapter 1, The Wizard’s Spells…, in its latest incarnation.  You can find it at http://gods-among-men.com/blog/books/book1.

Alex is currently editing chapter 2, …Awakens the Outer Circle,….   I started editing it some months ago with the intent of posting on this site as a completed version.   The numerous distractions I faced since then kept me from finishing my edits, then I became obsessed with rewriting chapter 5, Through Persuasion and Force…, a substantial effort I finished last night.

I took enough time away from chapter 5 to finish the edits on chapter 2 so I could send it to Alex.  Once she returns chapter 2 with her edits, I shall incorporate them as fast as possible and post them on this site.

After that, I plan to post the chapters as I incorporate Alex’s latest edits.  With luck, I will post a chapter every 2-3 weeks, at least through chapter 5.

I am about to embark on a substantial rewrite of chapter 6, …Personal Lives are Upset…, which will take quite some time to complete.  After that comes the edit/rewrite of chapter 7, …And Critical Moments Relived …, which I expect to be hellish.  Either of these chapters may cause my posting schedule to slow.  Combined they are certain to bring my efforts to a crawl.

Another task I must look at is what the heck is going on with the template I’m using for the website.  The images are wrong and the menus look funky.  I upgraded the template a while back, so I’m guessing it threw out my old settings.  Which means I must wade back into the dashboard and figure out what I did before to make everything look correct.

Oh, joy.

Happy Birthday, Alex!

All Together Now.

Happy Birthday To You,
Happy Birthday To You,
Happy Birthday Dear Alex
Happy Birthday to You!

A Special Birthday Wish

Today, Sunday November 11, is the birthday of Magic City Writer member in absentia, Alex.  As in the person I like to tease in my ongoing segment titled, Let’s Torture Alex by Mentioning What We Ate.

Alex was a member of the group before we started calling ourselves the Magic City Writers.  Her snarky humor and insightful comments made her a valuable member and a dear friend.

Some time ago, the vagaries of life led her to a far off land populated by strange people with unusual customs.  I think the natives of this distant northern realm call it “Rhode Island”.

Since then we don’t see Alex too much, though we do receive text messages, e-mails, and Facebook post from her from time to time.  Some of these conversations get a little weird, such as the one where I promised to sign a llama for her, but that is a part of her appeal.

On behalf of all the members of our little group, I offer the following birthday wish:

Alex, I hope you have a great Birthday today and many, many more in the future.  May happiness follow you throughout your travels, brining you as much joy as you bring to others.  And should you ever wander close by, please feel free to stop by, for we would love to see you again.  Heck, let us know in advance and we might even feed you.

Take care and Have Fun.
